Skater – 2022 – 6.1 m x 4.3 x 5.3 high – cast Silicone Bronze – The Esplanade St Kilda
Skater was produced in collaboration with Louise Skačej in response to a brief for a public artwork celebrating the halcyon days of the Saint Moritz Ice-skating Palais
We jumped at the chance to make a grand and playful gesture with a figure lost in the joy of movement.
Skater has been embraced by the local community and has become a St Kilda landmark.
Acknowledgement of Country
I respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which I live, work and make art. This is Stolen Country, the sovereignty of which was never ceded.
I pay my respects to Elders past present and emerging and stand in solidarity with all First Nation peoples, and recognise their continuing connection to Land, Waters and Culture.
